About Me
I am a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Texas specializing in scientifically tested treatments for children and adolescents with behavior problems, tantrums, school issues, anxiety, depression, and autism.
I am a native Houstonian and live in Richmond with my husband and children. I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Houston, where I was a recipient of the National Research Service Award. My predoctoral internship was completed at Baylor College of Medicine with a primary rotation at DePelchin Children’s Center. My fellowship training was at UTHealth in the Department of Pediatrics, where I developed clinical programming for an intensive outpatient program specializing in integrated care for children and adolescents with chronic health conditions.
It is my passion to help youth build resilience and develop life-long skills to manage difficult emotions and behaviors. My approach to therapy is from a developmental and cognitive-behavioral framework. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), behavioral therapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) in my interventions. I have expertise in working with children diagnosed with autism and use research-backed treatments which focus on social skills training, social thinking, applied behavioral analysis, functional behavior assessments, and discrete trial training. I have delivered treatments across a wide range of settings including hospitals, schools, primary care, and community mental health centers. As demonstrated by empirical research, parental involvement is often the key to successful outcomes for youth.
Therefore, I make it a priority to include parent training components and to actively collaborate with parents in their child’s treatment. I provide Autism evaluations using gold-standard assessments (ADOS-2), as well as comprehensive psychological, and psycho-education evaluations for children and adolescents.
